Convention and Visitor’s Bureau: (Board Member, Current Treasurer, Past Chairman)

2001 – Present

Contributed by advising CVB and tourism promotion activities with the perspective of a restaurant and retail business owner. While Chairman, we reorganized the CVB into in independent entity poised for future growth. One of my latest contributions has been the assistance of the Director and County Commissioners in the consideration and implementation of HOT Tax in Gillespie County.

 

Planning & Zoning Commission: (Board Member, Current Vice Chairman)

2005 – Present

We recommend and advise the City Council on matters that pertain to zoning, development and the physical improvement of Fredericksburg. This includes implementing the zoning ordinance, review of subdivision plat applications and implementation the City’s Comprehensive Plan.

 

Fredericksburg City Council Subcommittee on Formula Business: (Chairman)

2007

The City Council designated this group to explore the issues surrounding Formula Businesses in Fredericksburg’s Downtown area. Our Committee was charged with creating a recommendation set to inform the City Council’s decision making process in this area.

 

Economic Development Commission: (Board Member)

2003 – 2005

Represented the CVB to this Board by informing economic development through the perspective of the Tourism and Hospitality Industry.

 

Ignite Education: (Board Member)

2007 – Present

Ignite is a non-profit organization whose mission is to excite students about the learning process (especially math and science) through major rocket launch programs. Over the past 10 years, our curriculum has had tremendous success at Fredericksburg High School and in other high schools throughout Texas. Our goal is to implement this successful program in high schools and universities on a national scale.

 

Texas Retailers Association: (Board Member, Current Executive Committee)

2002 - Present

Representing the interests of independent retailers in Texas (esp. with the Legislature). My perspective is the lens of an independent retailer. Since the majority of our Board is made up of large companies (Wal Mart, Neiman Marcus, Dillards, CVS, Target, etc.) my role is to explain effects of decisions and inform strategy to support small retailers.

 

Ambleside School Board: (Board Member and Past Chairman)

2003 – 2006

I joined the Board of Ambleside School Board to implement processes and systems to manage the business of the School. While in this capacity, we focused on growth issues and advised the Administration on policy, strategy and organizational concerns.

 

HC Evangelical Free Church Deacon Board: (Board Member, Secretary)

2004 – 2007

Assist in overseeing the business and financial aspects of running the Church. Consulted on major remodeling projects, as well as, informing the process of policy and procedure formation and documentation.
